Our
company’s safety objective and our safety policies and practices
are based on providing employees with safe and healthy working conditions
in full compliance with the laws and regulations of all applicable bodies.
Our safety programme which is directed at doing all that is reasonable
and possible to prevent injury to persons and damage to property, and
to protect the works and all organisations involved from the results of
accidents, includes for:
- Definitions of the responsibilities of supervisory staff and other
employees to eliminate unsafe working environments.
- Induction of all our employees and subcontractors in safe practices.
- Further education of employees in the use of established procedures
and the strict adherence to safety rules.
- Application of sound engineering practices in the design, installation
and maintenance of equipment.
- Routine inspections by plant and equipment operators in regard
to statutory obligations.
- Maintenance of effective accident reporting and investigation procedures.
- Provisions of protective clothing and equipment complying with
Australian Standards.
- Periodic review of the safety programme to determine its effectiveness.
The implementation of the Safety Programme in conjunction
with the Health, Safety and Welfare Manual is the responsibility of all
employees from Managing Director down.
Our own on-site Safety Officer has unswerving authority
in regards to safety on the site. The first hint of relaxation of any
standard will be met head on with reprimand or dismissal. This strategy
is totally endorsed by the construction unions.
