| Thorndon Park Reserve
is located at Hamilton Terrace, Athelstone, South Australia. This
park opened to public for the first time in 1979.
McMahon Services were awarded the contract
for redevelopment of the
reserve on October 2003.
The scope of works for the above project includes:
- Removal of trees and vegetation
- Earthwork for the construction of walkways, retaining wall
and
amphitheater.
- Removal of park furniture and pavement.
- Construction of Segmental pavements to match existing.
- Construction of concrete pavements.
- Construction of bitumen pavements.
- Top soiling for new lawn area and planting area.
- Supply and planting of new trees and vegetation.
- Installation of irrigation system.
- Construction of retaining wall for the new walk way near
the pond 1.
- Construction of transfer chutes with concrete between the
ponds.
- Supply and install pipes for transfer of water between the
pipes.
- Construction of new pump house.
- Construction of decking area.
- Supply and install Balustrade to top of retaining wall and
decking area.
- Supply and install furniture to the new park.
- Supply and constrict concrete water channel.
Government selection method for most appropriate
contractor was based on Non-price criteria and performance criteria.
McMahon Services engaged subcontractors for
the landscaping, paving and concrete components of the project.
McMahon Services met all key dates on this project
and the site is now regarded as one of Adelaide’s leading
public open spaces.
