The Queen Elizabeth
Hospital demolition project was a highly sensitive project
involving the demolition of an eleven storey complex situated at
the entrance of a large operating public hospital.
Some key statistics of the project included:
- Removal of asbestos containing mastic within precast joints.
A total of 5,280 lm of mastic throughout the building;
- Removal of 2,000 lm of asbestos based pipe lagging and asbestos cement pipe;
- Demolition of an 11 storey structure linked to an existing
occupied building;
- The construction of 5,000m² of car park at the completion
of the demolition.
McMahon Services on site management team maintained
a close liaison with Queen Elizabeth Hospital staff and local residents
regarding noise and vibration management and daily work activities.
