McMAHON Services
were engaged as the main Civil contractor to undertake all earthworks
and civil works associated with construction of new Australian Science
and Mathematics School located at Flinders University Campus.
McMAHON Services were the first contractor on site in early January
2002. First task was to construct a brand new car park by mid February
2002 in time for new university semester. Construction of new car
park included the following tasks:
- Bulk Earthwork
- Demolition of existing structures
- Modification of existing retaining walls
- Supply and installation of all stormwater drains, pits.
- Supply and installation of all electrical trenches and lighting.
- All concrete work including paths, kerbing and retaining walls.
- Supply and place sub-base and base material for the new car
park.
- Supply and place bitumen for the new car park
- Supply and install all traffic signs and line marking
This car park was ready on time for use well
before the practical completion date was due, allowing the client
early access.
McMAHON Services were present on site for most of construction duration
undertaking a complex scope of work including:
- Bulk Earthwork
- Rock breaking total of 1000m³ for the bulk excavation
- Detailed excavation
- Detailed rock excavation
- Construction of concrete footings and columns
- Preparation for slab construction
- Relocation of existing distribution pillar and associated
cables
- Supply and installation of site main Switchboard
- Street and car park lighting including removal of existing
- Construction of roadways, paths and car parks
- Construction of rock retaining walls
- Supply and installation of line marking and traffic signs.
